Maintenance and Reliability Manager

The Maintenance and Reliability Manager is responsible for leading overall brewery maintenance activities and coordination of related work with other departments in full compliance with company policy and objectives. The Leader in this role must ensure food Quality and Safety as it relates to maintenance and work to build a strong technical foundation for maintaining and operating all of the equipment and work processes in the Samuel Adams Pennsylvania Brewery. The ideal candidate will have experience working in fast-paced, high change environments; leveraging Lean, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methods to help increase overall brewery productivity. What You'll Do: Develop, implement and gain adoption of plans to improve Maintenance Effectiveness. Work with Packaging, Brewing, Quality, Planning, Warehouse, and Human Resources to plan and execute improvement activities Create and promote a team-oriented and "Safety First" working environment Utilize systems and other available technology capabilities to develop and maintain an inclusive preventative maintenance program Maintain and organize inventory of all spare parts and supplies Schedule, supervise and support maintenance team to ensure coverage with the right complement of people and craft skills for a 24/7 operation Understands, follows, and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices Participates in brewery staff, shift and safety meetings, and conducts regular departmental meetings and training based on business needs Develops new methods and procedures to optimize manufacturing efficiency and reduce operating costs Provides maintenance guidance and oversight for all brewery associates; motivates, coaches and develops a diverse, high performing and engaged team to meet established goals and build technical capability. Develop and enhance employee skill-sets through in-house training and / or recommended specialized training Identify gaps and roadblocks to successful execution of brewery KPI's and develop plans to close gaps Communicate metrics for maintenance and reliability activities. Owns and drives improvement around planned and unplanned downtime and breakdowns  Develop and manage brewery maintenance budget in support of productivity spending goals Lead the development of more effective planning and scheduling of maintenance activities to achieve a higher level of Planned versus Reactive work. Continually reduce equipment downtime and increase availability through the establishment of a preventive/predictive maintenance program (including failure analysis). Build Capability and ownership of these systems down to the team level over time. Partner with Engineering to develop and implement new equipment, process methods and procedures to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials Establishes and maintains a SOX-compliant stockroom operation that provides repair parts for critical process equipment as well as necessary consumables for the brewery. Maintains direct contact with the Engineering department on the latest improvements to plant machinery and systems to effectively increase manufacturing performance and reduce operating costs Interfacing with brewery management and personnel to provide hands-on situational troubleshooting expertise as well as identification, investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of new and innovative projects, processes, or equipment to achieve operating cost reductions, capacity expansions, manufacturing flexibility improvement opportunities, improved product quality, and governmental compliance. Willingness and ability to work off-shift from time-to-time to maintain connectivity with crews working night shifts. Travel as needed to support business initiatives. What We're Looking For: Required: Bachelor's Degree in in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Chemical Engineering or related fields 10 + years' experience in a leadership role, with increasing level of people and process responsibility required Overall site maintenance management with packaging, process, and facility maintenance experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods environment Proven ability to establish work process and systems which increase productivity Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion, with proven experience in delivery against key KPI's Proven experience of leveraging maintenance managers to drive results at the technical level Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others Command of maintenance excellence pillars Lean manufacturing experience as it relates to maintenance  Demonstrated equipment/process troubleshooting skills Demonstrated project/idea development skills Solid financial aptitude and experience managing a budget Knowledge of industrial control software systems Demonstrated experience improving employee engagement and developing high performance team to solve problems and deliver results Extensive practical experience with high-speed bottling/packaging operations in food/beverage industries preferred  Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a "get-it-done, can-do" attitude.  Able to impact and effect positive change with a flexible, open-minded, positive approach Desired: Understanding of PLC (Allen Bradley) preferred Process/Packaging maintenance experience highly desired Physical Requirements: Must practice safe work methods and comply with wearing and using the proper PPE 100% of the time on the floor and always work in a safe manner. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively throughout the shift.  May require 12 hour days, some weekends or holidays. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to endure on a daily basis, walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, and crouching. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
