Provides leadership for the maintenance function to ensure effective equipment operation.
This position is committed to ensuring the best quality products, excellent customer service by maintaining regular quality audits (AIB), good manufacturing practices, compliance with federal/state/local regulations (FDA, OSHA, Department of Agriculture, Department of Health, etc.), HACCP, meet or exceed Global Food Safety Standards (BRC), environmental compliance and DOT mandates.

  • Supports without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes & are Priority #1.

  • Assures that General Safety and Food Safety is an absolute priority by setting the example as a member of senior management.

  • Assures that Product Quality is an absolute priority utilizing IPM, Plant Teams and outside resources to accomplish this.

  • Supervise the activities of team members to ensure they are working safely and efficiently

  • To plan, schedule and supervise effective, on time completion of maintenance tasks

  • Supervise effective recovery of equipment failure within area through management of maintenance resources and effective communication with Production and Maintenance management

  • Proactively identify improvement focus areas/activities through data analysis

  • Facilitate root cause problem solving by team members

  • Work closely with production supervisors to enable effective maintenance support

  • Ensure all new associates are supported during their induction period

  • Ensure all associates in area attend training as defined in training and development plans

  • Communicate clear performance expectations to team members

  • Give timely feedback, coaching and mentoring to team members to help maintain or improve expected performance
    Provide and facilitate appropriate consequence management for under-performing team members

  • Provide and promote a strong teamwork environment

  • Ensure team members wear appropriate PPE

  • Ensure team members are working in a safe manner and in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures

  • Ensure equipment in area is maintained, guarded and operated in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures

  • Understand levels of scrap and rework in area caused by equipment issues and associated points of cause

  • Use effective data analysis and root cause problem solving to eliminate scrap and rework caused by equipment issues

  • Understand and manage budgetary requirements for maintenance costs within area

  • Identify potential cost savings and cost avoidance

  • Participate in budget planning for area and department

  • Understand levels of line downtime caused by equipment issues and associated points of cause

  • Use effective data analysis and root cause problem solving to eliminate scrap and rework caused by equipment issues

  • Ensure all work orders are generated correctly and in a timely manner

  • Ensure all team members remove parts from inventory in accordance with inventory management system and procedures

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree is a plus.

  • Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with all levels of operations Leadership.

  • Other desired skill sets include strong knowledge of IPM, project management skills, knowledge of Bakery Equipment operations and Bakery Science.

Must also have the ability to provide hands on leadership and contribute directly to the overall success of the bakery.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
