Assistant Diesel Parts Manager

Helps manage the parts department and accomplishes objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying and advertising.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.

????????? Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all parts team members.

????????? Cultivates a training and succession plan for department employees.

????????? Maintains a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department, truck sales department, walk-in sales, delivery market, and wholesale accounts.? Supervises stock order procedures.? Ensures that stock orders represent at least ninety percent (90%) of all orders.

????????? Establishes pricing parameters in each customer category that generates sufficient gross profit to produce a satisfactory profit while maintaining customer loyalty.

????????? Establish individual parts inventory levels and balances them for maximum turnover.? Ensures that parts inventory turns a minimum of four (4) times per year.? Monitors stock control reports such as consumption rate and current market conditions to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.

????????? Monitors and adjusts inventory to minimize obsolescence.? Reviews files to determine unused items and recommends disposal of excess stock.? Ensures that all parts returns are properly tagged so that the dealership recovers full credit from the vendor.? Ensures credits are received for returned parts.? Returns parts as needed and removes from inventory after credit is received.

????????? Oversees and participates in inventory duties such as cycle counting, missing parts and no location parts.

????????? Maintains up ?to-date parts price list.

????????? Analyses sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals.

????????? Develops and administers an aggressive wholesale parts program to produce profit.

????????? Ensures that the same high quality level of service provided to outside customers is also provided to internal dealership customers.

????????? Monitor phone call logs and create processes to minimize hold times

????????? Works with the service manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.

????????? Works with truck sales manager to assist on parts add-on sales.

????????? Attends manager meetings and trainings as required, on and offsite

????????? Forecasts goals and objectives for the department.

????????? Prepares business plans and administers an annual operating budget for the parts department.

????????? Analyzes departmental operations and storage layout and revises as needed for maximum effectiveness.

????????? Provides technical assistance to parts department employees.

????????? Monitors parts department employees? payroll records.

????????? Coordinates a prompt, efficient, and timely flow of paperwork.

????????? Direct shipping and receiving efforts to ensure timely processing.

????????? Monitors daily reports such as Inventory Summary, sales productivity, and Customer Orders

????????? Enforces lost sales tracking.

????????? Directs counter sales efforts or telemarketing to keep in contact with customers.

????????? Develops sales promotions.

????????? Develops, enforces, and monitors guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

????????? Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership?s guidelines.

????????? Ensures that all dealership purchases are properly accounted for before payment is made.

????????? Assists in the collection of past-due accounts.

????????? Enforces safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation, processing of MSDS sheets on all products carried, and OSHA Right-to-Know.

????????? Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales.

????????? Maintains current knowledge of industry at large as well as the marketplace within the dealership?s AOR.

????????? Builds strong relationships with vendors.

????????? Maintains professional appearance.


Bachelor?s Degree (BA) in Business Management preferred and four to six years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess strong interpersonal skills.??Experience with medium/heavy duty trucks required.



ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification a plus but related parts or product certifications would be considered, valid driver?s license required; must meet company insurability standards.



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is must regularly lift/and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.??Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
