JOB DESCRIPTIONWe are currently hiring a Packaging Manager in Breinigsville, PA.
The Packaging Manager is responsible for establishing all management practices for all activities of the Packaging DepartmentThis person is accountable for all safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost performance measures for a 7-line 24/7 manufacturing facilityThis leader will work cross-functionally with other leaders to establish a vision and change plan for SAPB to achieve world-class production operationsThey will develop and implement a strategy that links the packaging operations' people, service, and cost initiatives to the Boston Beer company's strategic planTo this end, this person will coach and develop their team of leaders to support a large direct team of hourly co-workersThis person will ensure the correct management practices, metrics reviews, escalation procedures, and resources required to support daily operations and the success of long-term improvement plansThey will implement and ensure the use of best practices for quick changeover methods (SMED), Total Productive Maintenance, Operational Reviews, and other continuous improvement tools to deliver the required resultsThis leader is accountable for identifying and executing process improvements related to safety, line stoppages, customer service levels, demurrage and detention charges, staffing, fill rates, inventory levels, capacity planning and utilization, and packaging accuracy.
What You'll Brew:
Conducts themselves as a servant leader by spending 70% of their time on the packaging floor solving problems and building the capability of their team.
Focuses on developing leadership capability through coaching and feedbackImplements highly effective systems to include standard management reviews; KPI cascading; CILs; Centerlines; SMED; process failure, and minor stop and breakdown eliminationHolds team accountable for process adherence and results.
Develops future pipeline talent through a combination of coaching, experience and mentoring.
Accountable for delivering improved safety KPIs; lower quality incidents; improved OEE; decreased changeover time and unplanned stops; and lower cost per case.
Ensures team has the proper level of job, functional and soft skillsActively oversees and manages skills matrix and skill progression through the leadership team.
Understands, follows, and enforces all established safety, health, quality, GMP, and company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
Leads department through the change cycle to build internal capability and evolving business demands, Participates in brewery staff, shift, and safety meetings, and conducts regular departmental meetings, Actively measure and improve coworker engagementFoster an environment where co-workers want to and regularly give their best.
Provides guidance and oversight for all Packaging coworkers; motivates, coaches and develops a diverse, high performing and engaged team to meet established goals and build capability.
, Provides leadership by mentoring coworkers in the use of lean tools, ensuring transfer of knowledge and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
, Ensure policies and procedures are administered fairly and consistently, Conducts annual performance reviews, creates, and supports development plans for direct reportsCoaches and develops Leads, Shift Supervisors, Line Leaders and Process Leaders to be leaders in the organization.
Creates and fosters a team environment that demonstrates genuine concern for all employees' personal and professional development.
Work with supporting functions such as Safety, Quality, Maintenance, and Brewing to resolve production-related issues.
Responsible for managing and achieving the department's annual budgetIdentify and implement cost-improvement opportunities through material suppliers, manufacturing, and packaging partners.
Contribute to the development of strategic and tactical plans to link SAPB packaging to Boston Beer's company strategyWhat Ingredients You'll Bring:
Ten or more years' experience in a manufacturing/packaging environment.
Extensive practical experience with high-speed bottling/packaging operations in food/beverage industriesAn in-depth understanding and track record of having delivered operational processes that drive safety,quality, cost and delivery improvements.
Proven success in managing a team, safety records and operational issues.
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion, with proven experience in delivery against key KPI's.
Lean manufacturing experience as it relates to Packaging/ProductionDemonstrated project/idea development skillsSolid financial aptitude and experience managing a budget.
Demonstrated experience improving emas needed to cover varying production needsMay include 12 hour days, weekends and/or holidays.
